One of the many qualities that set ELISABETH YORK apart is the incredibly luxurious hand given to each of our collections, the kind of softness that has you longing for your bed in the middle of the day. Not only do we choose high quality fabrics to achieve this superior softness, but we also implement a variety of washes to create a unique,well-loved feel at first sight. That's right, softness you can see!
Washed in small batches and closely monitored by hand, there are primarily three types of washes utilized in our pieces: enzyme wash, acid wash, and stone wash. Each of these wash techniques involve a process that break down the fabric, creating softness and texture. For example, stone washing actually incorporates washing the piece with stones, which gently distress the fabric and break it in for a comfortable result.
Because of the nature of the techniques, results will vary, but they come out uniquely beautiful every time.

Ever wonder how we got the cotton of the Savina so ridiculously soft? Enzyme washing! The swoon-worthy hand of the Waffle? Acid and stone washing (and believe me, it feels amazing) the distressed look of the Ines? Stone washing (see the before and after photo below).
